Yep...it sure is, except for the desert where you have to do a mission to get there. Then you can run to all the areas of the desert.

You can even run the mission itself....or rather it is 1 person who just runs to the end then tanks the mobs and runs on the boat. You do the mission but I guess it is a run since you don't kill anything...

yes, prophesies is the only campaign where you dont have to finish most missions to access the next area, there is a mission or two you have to do in order to go to the next side, don't remember exactly what they are.

You cant run to the desert but you can get a runner for sanctum cay and you can't run to the fire islands, you'll need to do thunderhead keep i think

Quickest way to "finish" Prophecies:

Get a run from Ascalon to Beacon's Perch.

Get a run from Beacon's Perch to Droknar's Forge.

Get a run from Droknar's Forge to Thunderhead Keep.

Complete the last four missions.

If you have Nightfall, you can also enter the Crystal Desert Area via the teleporter in Crystal Overlook, thus skipping a large chunk of Ascalon.

Only if you've already visited that area in the Crystal Desert in Tyria, though, if I remember correctly.

^Verene is correct.

Incidentally, if anyone's thinking "why would anyone want to skip 90% of the content?" - Hard Mode, fast-track to farming goodness.

Also, it gives you access to Dakk - the guy with all the non-elite skills in Prophecies.

Really wish they'd stop the skipping in Prophecies, as well. For example, the undead in the Cursed Land could put up a couple of unpassable bulwarks in the passes leading to the Black Curtain, and I'm sure the Stone Summit are P.O.'d enough (and skilled enough) to set off a massive avalanche in Lornar's Pass to block off Dreadnaught's Drift. Those two changes alone should be fairly easy to make and would go a long way towards making people play through...

Because all the spam from people looking for and advertising runs in Beacon's Perch & Lion's Arch is very annoying.
